Brokeback Mountain!

Brokeback MountainBrokeback Mountain is about an incredibly beautiful but sad gay romance! It is perhaps one of the most romantic films I have ever seen. I’m talking about a flaming romance here. An ever lasting romance. If Ashley Wilkes loved Scarlett O’Hara, their story could have been as romantic as the Brokeback Mountain romance!!!

Before I go further, go get yourself a cup of tea or coffee, because this is going to be a looooong story…

I said sad romance; It is so sad that makes you feel guilty about all the silly judgments you have ever made about homosexuals; Moral or else. I do support gay righs [-with the only exception that I don't think gay couples sould be allowed to adopt children-]! Although I support their rights, sometimes, for no apprent reason I laugh at gay jokes! Eventhough it is ok to kiss and be kissed by the same sex in my culture, I’d rather not kiss someone of the same sex! That’s just me. I don’t think I’ll be called strict minded for a silly joke or not kissing a man! At least, I hope not!

Anyway, back to the main story… The fact that this romance is a gay romance in the 60’s in the cowboys’ land, and the reality that Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) and Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal) have to go “fishing” in the mountains “every once in a while” just to be together, and the truth that “sometimes they miss each other so much they can hardly stand it“, just hurts! It hurts so bad that in the end, you feel guilty about every single gay joke you’ve ever laughed at!

When the always-angry-Del Mar, burst into tears hearing Jack fuckin’ Twist telling him “he wish he knew how to quit him“, you will -and should- realise that “love is a force of nature”! Otherwise, you must be either an idiot with a brain as dry as bone [-don't worry, you're not alone!!!-] or a prostitute!

When it comes to passion, furiousness, loneliness and regret, Ledger and Gyllenhaal don’t act. They live as Ennis and Jack. Ang Lee couldn’t have asked for any better actor. You can almost feel Alma’s (Michelle Williams‘) pain when she saw her husband kissing his real love. You can clearly read her every thought from her face. Acting is as good as it gets. Nothing is over exaggerated. Every single act is real. Even the funny looking mexican guy is believable!

Simple and classic southern music and extreme wide angles of the Wyoming beautiful mountains, give a beautiful sense of being free and living limitless. Whenever we are in the town, there is something sad expecting us. The rich bastrad father-in-law (Graham Beckel), a broken heart wife, lonely sisters or the tight ass Joe Aguirre (Randy Quaid)! On the other hand, whenever we’re in the mountains, there something beautiful to expect. Childhood memories, drinking and singing, getting wet under the rain or riding the horse on a gorgeous landscape! Perahaps that’s why in the end, Ennis preffers the peace and quiet of his carvan!

As long as you are brave enough to spend an hour and a half watching a gay film, in every way you look at Brokeback Mountain, you’ll enjoy it. No matter how different you find gay people, you shouldn’t miss this film! Brokeback Mountain is a beautiful piece of cinematography that will definitely change the way you think about homosexuality. If it didn’t, as I said before, you have to be either as dumb as George Walker Bush or an ugly prostitute! :p

Zee End!
