The List!

You all must have seen the Godfather, the Shawshank Redemption and Schindler’s List by now. If you haven’t, don’t bother reading the rest of this post. I enjoy watching movies in general. From Film Noir to thrillers, comedies, romance, horror and even stupid Italian soft porn flicks, if I’m in the mood, I’d never pass a chance to watch a movie. Every couple of years, I come across one or two movies that are worth remembering. There are movies that I simply never get tired of watching them for the tenth time. In most cases, I learn something new everytime I watch them.

Anyway, these are the movies I have recently added to my list of favorites (in no particular order):

Der Untergang: One of best three real stories about WWII. It is the most honest one. The other two are the Pianist and Schindler’s List.

The Merchant of Venice: The best adaptation ever made of a Shakespeare’s play. It is perhaps the last good film Al Pacino played.

Amélie: Simply beautiful. Whoever you are and however you feel, Amélie will make you happy!

Little Miss Sunshine: I have never seen a film asking such frightening questions in such a wonderful, witty and intelligent way.

Sideways: One of the most enjoyable comedies I have seen in years.

Garden State: Along With Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Lost in Translation, Garden State is one of the best romantic films I have seen over the last ten years.

The Departed: This is perhaps the one and only good “Amercian version” of a non-American screenplay ever made. If you too are sick of watching rappers try to act, thank Scorsese for injecting fresh and clean blood into gangster crime genre.
