Oscars 2007: The Winners!
Best Motion Picture of the Year: I would love to see Little Miss Sunshine takes the Oscar’s, but it’s going to be The Departed. All five nominees, Babel, The Departed, Letters from Iwo Jima, Little Miss Sunshine and The Queen, were great movies and deserve to be mentioned here on Finglish! Yeah!
Best Actor in a Leading Role: Forest Whitaker for The Last King of Scotland will win it. Other nominees aren’t bad either. I’m actually beginning to think DiCaprio is a good actor!
Best Actress in a Leading Role: Helen Mirren is as cold as the real Queen in The Queen. Penelope Cruz was also brilliant in Volver. I’m surprised how [why] she ruined her year with that awful waste of film, Bandidas! Her “best friend,” Salma Hayek must have been the reason. She should be banned from life! Short fatty! Kate Winslet is my third favorit. Meryl Streep is on the list just because she is Meryl Streep! And Judi Dench should be shot for accepting to play against Daniel Craig for the second time!
Best Actor in a Supporting Role: I don’t care! Alan Arkin, maybe. Just because I liked the film. UPDATE: I saw Dreamgirls today. Murphy’s good and different. Arkin still gets my vote.
Best Actress in a Supporting Role: I would love to see Abigail Breslin wins for Little Miss Sunshine. Rinko Kikuchi is my second favorite for her pearcing eyes in Babel. But the winner is going to be Jennifer Hudson for Dreamgirls. I haven’t seen Dreamgirls yet, so I can’t say anything about it. But a movie with Beyonce in it doesn’t really sound exciting to me. Naah! UPDATE: Dreamgirls is actually not that bad. But I don’t it’s a great musical. Hudson does get my vote, but will win the Oscar’s. Shame!
Best Achievement in Directing: Martin Scorsese should win for being Martin Scorsese! He should win the Oscar’s for Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Last Temptation of Christ, Goodfellas, Casino, Kundun, Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed and many others that I can’t be arsed to find their IMDB link! Can you actually believe that he hasn’t won an Oscar for any of these?!
Best Documentary: As much as I liked Jesus Camp, I’d like An Inconvenient Truth to win. And I’m pretty sure it will. I’ll write about it soon. It’s a very powerful documentary.
Surprise of the Year: It won’t be a surprise if I give you the name, but I’m going to do it anyway! El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan’s Labyrinth) is going to win all the best Cinematography, Art Direction, Original Score, Makeup and best Foreign Language Film prizes. That’s five Oscars.
You wanna bet on it?
