Blog for Money!

Who doesn’t love money?! I’ve been blogging for for almost three years and it’s about time I start earning some money off of it! I gave Google AdSense a try a couple of years ago, but it just looked ugly and I had to moderate the ads every day. Things have changed since. You can now get paid for blogging about things that you blog every day. The more you do so, the more your ratings grow and you can earn more and more from each review.

I registered with Smorty last night and received my approval email earlier this morning. “Smorty is a service connecting advertisers with bloggers. Advertisers can pay bloggers to write opinion posts with links back to the advertisers site.” Requirements to join Smorty are simple:

• Your blog must be indexed by Google and Yahoo
• Your blog must be older than 3 months
• Your blog must not contain any violent, hate related or adult content
• Your blog must be active and have a history of minimum average 2 new posts per week
• The blog must not have duplicate posts or excessive duplicate content

Quite reasonable, to say the least. You have to be known to search engines. You can’t start fake blogs. You shouldn’t be a pervert!!!

So, how does it work… I haven’t figured this out exactly, but my guess is that according to your blog description, you will receive related “offers” to advertise on your blog(s). You will then have three days to blog about your advertiser and submit the post to Smorty and that’s about it really. The rest of the rules are just common sense, if you ask me (e.g. using correct grammar, wordcount, etc). The reason I’m not sure how Smorty provides related advertisers is that nobody asked me to tag my blog when I was registering. That’s why I think your blog description is all that matters.

To be perfectly optimistic, I am expecting to earn enough money to feed my chewing gum addiction! If I am lucky enough, and if I can control some of my bad habits, I may cover the hosting fees as well. We’ll see about that soon…
