Because I Can!

Buy One... Get One TreeI don’t drive. Hell, I don’t even use public transport more than once or twice a week. Walking around town is always my first option. It’s a good exercises, feels great and of course, doesn’t cost a penny! The weekly amount of rubbish produced in my house is about a bin every tree to four days! I recycle almost all the bottles, cans and papers. Unlike the rest of U.K, the storage heaters in my flat are set to work at nights, when it’s cold. Not during the day, when nobody’s home!!! Last time I checked, my Carbon Footprint was pretty much as green as the Hulk and well bellow the average! In fact, if you don’t count the two or three short-haul European flights I take every year, I’m living a Greener life than my friends and family.

But how difficult is it to live a Green life? I don’t think it’s difficult at all. To be honest, everything I do is either common sense or so easy that it’s just dumb not to do it! Recycling is so normal and routine to me that if I find a jam jar in the bin, I’d be surprised and will interrogate everyone in the house. I mean, really, would it hurt if you keep the glass separate from your rubbish? How long does it take you to set the timer switch on your water heater? Ten seconds? One minute? Do you really have anything better to do in that one minute?!

Anyway… This discussion is as ridiculous as the warning stickers on cigarettes packs! There is always a certain group of people who say: “I know that… But, still…” I care about the environment because I can. What about you?!
