Eastern Promises!
Eastern Promises is not like your typical crime thriller. It’s powerful, classy, dark and violent. Vigo Mortensen is just as good as he was in A History of Violence and brilliantly portraits a complicated caring and loving mafia driver who later in the story turns out to be more than just a driver!
David Cronenberg, the director, has always been one of my favorites. The guy knows his stuff. Even his cheesy thriller from the 80’s were great. They don’t look as horrifying when you look back at them now. But at the time, they were the awesomest! Like totally! Who knows, in 20 years time, the Russian Mafia of London might be a funny subject for a movie!
Anyway, to cut it short, if you’re tired of the usual Hollywood crap, if you a fan of the God Father and if you do care about the story and characters in movies, do not miss Eastern Promises.
