Oscars 2008: The Winners!
Last year, I nailed it. It was as if Oscar himself read my list before giving the prizes. This year, I’ll just have to try and see if there is still any magic left…
Best Motion Picture of the Year: There Will Be Blood is my choice. But Atonement too has a good chance. Like I said before, the only reason I did not like Atonement was THIS!
Best Actor in a Leading Role: I’m really surprised Denzel Washington is not on the list for his role in American Gangster. Before I watch There Will Be Blood, Denzel Washington and Viggo Mortensen were on top my list. But right now, Daniel Day-Lewis is the winner. There Will Be Blood wouldn’t have been the same if it wasn’t for Day-Lewis.
Best Actress in a Leading Role: I really hope Ellen Page gets the prize for her role in Juno. Unfortunately, apart from Cate Blanchett in Elizabeth: The Golden Age, I haven’t seen any of the other performances. And I don’t really care. Ellen Page for President is what I say! UPDATE: Marion Cotillard for President!
Best Actor in a Supporting Role: Philip Seymour Hoffman gets my vote for his superb role in Charlie Wilson’s War. I’d be really pissed off he doesn’t win. Casey Affleck is next. And then Javier Bardem. This year’s Supporting actor nominations is the most difficult list. All are great, but Seymour Hoffman is exceptional. He’s even better than his Oscar winning main role in Capote!
Best Actress in a Supporting Role: Saoirse Ronan gets my vote. Despite THIS, she was the reason I managed to sit through Atonement until the end!!! Amy Ryan for Gone Baby Gone is second on my list.
Best Achievement in Directing: Paul Thomas Anderson should win for There Will Be Blood.
