Taxi to the Dark Side!

Thanks to Greg for the heads up, I watched Taxi to the Dark Side on BBC iPlayer last night. Powerful stuff. In fact, I found it horrifying at some points.

Torture is as old as history books. All the horrible things the Spanish Inquisition did to non-believers in the name of Religion are very well known to those who read and research. So are the things Josef Mengele did. But hearing that similar techniques are used every day in the name of democracy, and realising that it is happening as you read this should scare you $hitless. Realising that there are forgotten people out there, imprisoned for nobody knows what reason, awaiting a miracle to end their misery, to me, as a person who hates fascists as much as he hates terrorists is truly horrifying.

I’m not trying to exaggerate anything here. I can name at least a dozen country that torture people almost every day just for the sake of religion or what have you. But torture for the sake of freedom, liberty and democracy? I wish I couldn’t name any. I wish it was all a joke. But it is not. Modern fascism is real and is spreading like a malignant cancer. It’s gotten so bad that all the movie villains of all time are now struggling to hide their envy and jealousy! It’s even more serious than George Clooney’s chin! It’s just, errm, completely F-ed up!

Solution: None! Only thing we can do is to pray to our Gods to live and see the day where all these fascists are trialled for crimes against humanity. Will praying work? Only if your God is not one of them!!!

Taxi to the Dark Side is a must, if you give a crap about the world you live in! Otherwise, I hope you wake up in a cage in Guantanamo Bay. I really do!
