Hero Of The Week!
One of my favourite marketing topics is segmentation. It’s about dividing the market into different segments and targeting whichever that is more related to what you sell. You probably have heard of Kim Kardashian. She’s as talented as Paris Hilton and is more or less “famous” for the same reasons. Only difference is that while she and her fans think she looks sexy with her butt implants (or excess lard; if that’s what it is), I and everyone I know think she’s a mutant!
But that’s not important at all. What really matters is the message she is trying to get across in this clip: “Burping needs our help!”
“Burping,” if you too like me are ignorant enough not to know, refers to Burma: The disaster-struck country.
See, when your audience are no smarter than you, only way to communicate is to attract their attention with what they easily understand. In this case, unfunny jokes, buying clothes and big butt, OMYGAWD they all, like, totally work! Like I’m so not kidding! Right?! Now throw in some random information about government sponsored terror by the Burmese military nutbags aaand voila! The job’s done.
That’s why I’m crowning Miss Kardashian and her marketing team as my Heroes of the Week. I can now use this video as the perfect example in my marketing papers. Well done to you all. Keep it up, like totally.
